Question Types & Approach

Author's Tone "The tone of the author is..." Positive/negative adjectives dekho
Inference "It can be inferred..." Sirf passage se bahar nahi jaana

5–8 questions Easy to medium
Single blank ya double blank sentences hoti hain. Ek isolated sentence mein blank fill karna hota hai Cloze Test se alag, yahan connected paragraph nahi hota.

Single Blank Solving Steps

Double Blank Special Strategy

Double Blank Approach
Step 1: Pehle easier blank fill karo jo zyada obvious hai
Step 2: Uss blank se dusra blank narrow ho jaata hai
Step 3: Dono ek saath grammatically aur meaning mein fit hone chahiye

Relationship Types:
Same direction: dono positive ya dono negative
Opposite direction: ek positive, ek negative (contrast sentence mein)
Cause-Effect: pehla reason, dusra result
Double Blank Example
"She was _____ in her approach but _____ in her results."
Options: (a) careless excellent (b) meticulous disappointing (c) lazy poor (d) brilliant extraordinary

Answer: (b) meticulous disappointing
"but" = contrast → pehla positive, dusra negative → meticulous (careful) disappointing
Shortcut: Double blank mein pehle aasaan blank fill karo. Ek sahi ho toh dusra automatically narrow ho jaata hai options aadhe eliminate.
Sentence Correction / Improvement
5–10 questions Grammar + Meaning
Ek sentence diya hota hai jisme ek bold/underlined part hota hai. Us part ko correct karna hota hai ya "No Improvement" select karna hota hai. Error Spotting se alag yahan sirf specific part correct karna hai.

Solving Steps

Common Correction Types Examples

Type Original (Galat) Corrected Rule
Tense She has went to market. She has gone to market. Has + past participle (gone, not went)
Subject-Verb One of the students are absent. One of the students is absent. "One" = singular subject
Article He is a MLA from Bihar. He is an MLA from Bihar. "M" ka sound "em" vowel sound → "an"
Preposition He is married with her. He is married to her. Married "to" fixed preposition
Gerund/Infinitive She avoided to meet him. She avoided meeting him. Avoid + gerund (-ing)

Practice Sentence Correction Quiz

Correct the underlined part: "Despite of his hard work, he could not clear the examination."
A Error is in "Despite of" should be "Despite" (no "of")
B he could not clear → he cannot clear
C No improvement needed
D The underlined part needs correction
"Despite" ke baad "of" kabhi nahi aata yeh common trap hai! "Despite of" = WRONG. "Despite" = CORRECT.
Professor Note: Sentence Correction mein zyada time mat lagao. Agar 30 seconds mein answer nahi mila, skip karo aur baad mein aao. Yeh topic grammar knowledge test karta hai speed se nahi, rules se.
